AMSA-Indonesia is consisted of 6 districts across Indonesia. Every district has their own culture, uniqueness and spirit. Annually, each district makes a project to directly approach society via AMSA District Project (ADP). This year, AMSA District 1 Project began the series of ADPs. The unity and rewarding impact has colored up the project for valuable outcome towards AMSA’s members and society.


AMSA District 1 Project was hosted by AMSA-Unsyiah in Banda Aceh, February, 23-25th 2017 with the title: “LACTOSE: Learn and Act in Improving the Safety and Quality of Nutritional Care”. In this event, all AMSA District 1 universities were gathered for three days in giving shape of AMSA’s philosophies: Knowledge, Action and Friendship. On the first day, the delegates arrived in Banda Aceh to attend a lecture given by dr. Aslinar Sp.A on the afternoon and also welcoming party in the evening. On the next day, the delegates headed to Desa Nusa (Nusa Village), the only one tourist village in province, for social actions. Together with 32 specialist doctors from Ikatan Dokter Anak Indonesia (IDAI), Persatuan Dokter Mata Indonesia (PERDAMI) and Komite Daerah Penanggulangan Gangguan Pendengaran dan Ketulian (KOMDA PGPKT), all delegates did anthropometry, ear and eye screening for 95 students of SD 2 Desa Nusa. The delegates directly learned and discussed with the doctors about the screening techniques and many other interesting things.


The delegates also visited citizen’s home to deliver the importance of immunization and diabetes as non-communicable disease based on the fact that there is low immunization and NCD prevention awareness level in the village. The delegates have also done the anthropometry at citizen’s home to check the children nutritional status. 32 houses have successfully visited by the delegates! In the evening, all the delegates feel the excitement of AMSA District on the farewell party. Each AMSA university shows their performance in front of audience happily. With delicious foods and amazing breeze, everyone enjoyed the party till the night dropped.



There is a different between AD1P and other ADPs. Due to long distance, there is only one annual event in district 1. While others have both of AMSA District Project and AMSA District Gathering, District 1 combined both of them as all district 1 national team’s work plan. Sunday was chosen as the best time spent for gathering. All delegates were having fun at Lampuuk Beach, playing together and sharing experience they wanted to share. Lampuuk Beach was a must visited beach in Aceh that they will never regret. At the end of event, some delegates who were still in Banda Aceh strolled around the city, visited city sights and heritages, and tasted Aceh traditional noodle.



There were lots of fun in AD1P 2018, and lots of things to learn too! Although the aims of ADP are actually to approach and educate society, delegates also could learn many new things and expand their networking here.
